Why Cardio Is Not So Great

A Better Way To Burn Fat

America is fat. Everyone wants to get into shape and look great. But, everyone is doing all the wrong things. Besides eating the wrong foods, most people are doing the wrong activities in order to lose fat and get into amazing shape.

The biggest mistake people make is that most people believe that doing long hours of boring and monotnous cardio is the best way to lose fat. WRONG! Doing long hours of slow-paced cardio is one of the least effective ways to melt fat and get into incredible shape.

Being a San Diego Personal Trainer, I have witnessed first hand, the common mistakes people make in trying to get into lean and tone shape. You see it all the time when you walk into a gym, groves of people all on the cardio equipment, doing slow-paced cardio. The problem is that slow-paced cardio only increases your metabolic rate for a couple of hours afterwards.

Also, if you do too much cardio, you run the risk of burning up valuable, caloire burning muscle tissue. You see, one of the key factors to burning body fat is increasing your muscle mass.  My good friend, Frank Gallis, Personal Trainer Santa Barbara, taught me this a long time ago.

Now, what is the best way to burn fat and build a beautiful, tone body? Weight resistance and interval training. Training weights builds quality muscle, helping you burn more and more fat. Plus, lifting weights stimulates your body's growth hormone. This hormone helps you get leaner and keeps you younger.

Now, what the heck is interval training? Interval training is a high intensity, stop and go training. For example, you can do sprints, where you sprint all out for 50 meters, then turn around and walk back and do it again. The great thing about interval training, along with weight resistance, is that your metbolism will be greatly increased for up to 48 hours afterwards. This means you will burn tons of fat for a longer period of time.

So, to really get into fitness model shape, just combine whole body weight resistance with some interval training, and you will soon see your body dropping pounds so fast, your clothes will just fall off your body.
